YUL to Montreal: the route at a glance

The 747 is the direct public transport option from YUL to downtown Montréal, while taxis and rideshares have separate airport pickup arrangements. The bus journey varies according to which downtown stop you choose.

For a broader look at the city’s network, see this Montreal metro and transit guide. If you’re planning time in the city after checking in, this one-day Montreal itinerary offers another way to plan your stay.

Public transit from the airport

Public transit from the airport

The STM 747 connects YUL with downtown Montréal and runs seven days a week, 24 hours a day. During the day, buses run every 10 to 15 minutes in both directions.

There are two useful journey times to keep in mind. The short route from YUL to Lionel-Groulx métro station takes about 30 to 35 minutes. The longer route to the Montréal bus terminal at Berri-UQAM makes 11 stops and takes between 45 and 70 minutes. The 747 also serves Berri-UQAM métro station.

At YUL, you can buy a fare at the STM counter or vending machines by door 28 in the international arrivals area. You can also pay the exact fare in coins when boarding.

The regular-fare 24-hour pass costs $11.25 and allows unlimited trips for 24 hours. Other accepted passes include Unlimited Weekend, 3-day, weekly, monthly, 4-month and Free 65+ passes. STM bus routes 209, 356, 378 and 460 also travel to or from YUL.

The 747 offers services for people with reduced mobility. For trip planning, fares and current service information, check the official site before you go: STM for transit and YUL for airport details.

Taxi and rideshare options

Taxi and rideshare options

Taxis and rideshares use different airport pickup points, so check the instructions for your chosen service before leaving arrivals.

YUL’s published fixed taxi fare between the airport and downtown Montréal is $49.45 from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and $56.70 from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. For destinations outside downtown, fares are metered; the published minimum is $21.65 by day and $24.75 overnight.

For Uber Black, go to door 25 on the arrivals level and book in the pickup area. For other Uber categories, the Leigh-Capreol drop-off area is accessible from door 28 on the arrivals level; request your ride in the designated pickup zone.

UberX passengers receive a PIN in the app, join the line for the next available driver and show the PIN at the vehicle. For Uber XL, Uber Comfort, or rides between 2:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., follow the pickup instructions in the app.

Adapted taxis are available from the arrivals-level dispatcher at door 23 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Outside those hours, advise your airline to contact the dispatcher.

Driving, drop-off and parking

The available route information does not specify turn-by-turn directions, hotel drop-off arrangements or parking details, so confirm those separately before setting out.

For airport access and ground transport, use YUL’s current guidance when planning a pickup or drop-off. This is especially useful if someone is meeting you by car, since airport arrangements can affect where you can wait and collect passengers.

Choosing a route for your arrival time

Choosing a route for your arrival time

The 747 runs at all hours, while its daytime frequency is every 10 to 15 minutes. For a late-night or early-morning arrival, compare the bus with taxi and rideshare pickup instructions, which vary by service and time.

If you want a predictable fare to downtown, YUL publishes fixed taxi rates for two time bands; destinations outside downtown use metered fares. If you take the 747, choose your stop with the longer Berri-UQAM trip time in mind. Check STM and YUL for current fares, service and airport pickup details before travelling.
